| Stockholm | Still mineral water Posted: Fri June 6, 2008 07:15 AM UTC
Good morning,
It is my first posting to this foro so I will try to do well. I have read that in Stockholm it is not very common mineral water without gas (no fizzy. I need to drink this still mineral water frequently, so I would like to know the following: - In supermarkets, is it easy to find still mineral water? Which is the translation in Swedish to recognize it? Is it very expensive? - In restaurants if I want still mineral water to drink, how can I ask for it? I have read there is a jar on the bar with tap water free, but if the only thing I want to drink is water I don't ask for anything? Thank you very much |

Hi!
In supermarkets you can look for Ramlösa "stilla", it is without gas. I think the bottle is light blue. at bigger places they have imported water as well, without gas. then the text is often in english. So, take a look. In Sweden you can drink the tap water everywhere, except for trains, planes and buses and some public toilets. In the restaurants, if you ask for ice water or in swedish "Isvatten" you will get tap-water with ice. Sometimes they charge yoy for the ice-water, sometimes not. If you want water without ice you say no ice. If you want bottleled water, ask for mineral-water. Some places may have mineral-water on bottle without gas. You just ask. Most waiters speak reallly good english.
