Sydney Looking for a tour to the Blue Mountains
Posted: Fri June 6, 2008 04:37 AM UTC
Hey there -

I'm traveling to Sydney for 5 days in July, and would love to get out to the Blue Mountains. Since neither my traveling partner nor I want to rent a car, we're looking into a day-long tour to the mountains. Any good recommendations/reliable and good tour operators?

Here's a list of 5 day tours from one company:
http://www.aptouring.com.au/content.asp?Document_ID=18485&Destination_ID=18838&DestinationRegion_ID=19989&DestinationCity_ID=20059&TourDuration=0-1&TourStyle=0&TourPriceRange=0&DurationDaysMin=0&DurationDaysMax=1&action=search&submit.x=23&submit.y=9

If the above link does not work then go to http://www.aptouring.com.au/ and search in there.

There are other companies that fo day coach tours. You could wait until you get to hotel in Sydney and check with tour desk/concierge for other companies that they deal with.

Enjoy Oz

David

Another idea is to catch the train from Central Station and get off at Katoomba Station and jump on a bus that will take you to the 3 sisters & scenic railway & cable car. Blue Mountains also has an explorer bus you might find interesting. Here's the link - http://www.explorerbus.com.au/
Hope this helps. Have fun downunder! Cheers, Ann :o)

I agree with Ann, jump on a train - cheaper and you can do things at your own pace once you get to Katoomba.

You can book on-line @ either Great Sights or Asia Pacific Tours. Look specifically for the "Blue Mountain (small group)" option, & try to ask for a guide called Barry, he's excellent !!

My family & I did this in 2001, & we still have good memories of it.

Here's the link, I hope you enjoy yourself:

Just a thought...

If you're a good hiker, I'd skip the tour...as I think they go 'too easy' for what the Blue Mtns has to offer.

I did the tour from Sydney ages ago, and to be honest I didn't think the Blue Mountains were all that special. The reason was...was probably because you can't see such an area from a bus.

The second time I went, I stayed overnite in Wentworth Falls, and the hikes around the falls were absolutely amazing...gorgeous hikes, friendly people...it's really, really nice there. Wentworth Falls is not to be missed - they have hikes with all different levels of difficulty from 20 minutes to 6 hours.

If you have the time, stay overnite for a much, much better experience.

Hope that helps!
