| France | Where in the world is Thore? Posted: Thu June 5, 2008 09:01 PM UTC
My surname is Thore, with no diacritical marks, and our family has always (at least in my lifetime) thought that we were Scots-Irish but I have recently found two geographical names in France with Thore, plus an accent aigu over the "e," as part of the name, as well as several other locations with Thoire in their name. I will be in Bosnia in a couple weeks and would love to stop by the Thore River (in the south of France, near Castres, Toulouse, et al.) and Thore-la-Rochette (on the Loir, not the Loire, River).
Does anyone know anything at all which might help me to get the most out of visiting the Thore River and/or Thore-la-Rochette? Unfortunately, I will have come and gone before the Tour de France starts. Thanks for all your help!! |
