Go by tube - it is a very easy journey and will take about 30 minutes.
Start at Barking underground station and get a train to Mile End station. Change trains and get on the Central Line (marked red on the map) which will take you to Oxford Circus. This is a good website to look at and if you type in the places you need to go from and to it will tell you the best journey. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/default.aspx Have a great trip. Peter

If you are going to be using public transport in London for a few days it is probably better that you buy an Oyster card instead of individual tickets. You can get a card from the underground station. It will cost you £3 to buy, but then when you leave the UK you can give it back and get your money back.
The Oyster card is a credit card sized plastic card which lets you pre-pay for your journeys. You just put whatever amount you want on it, and then when you travel just hold it in front of a card reader at the start and again at the end of your journey. It automatically deducts the cost of the journey. You can use this on the underground network, and also buses. As an incentive to get customers to use the card system, the rate you pay for a journey is less if you use it than if you buy an individual ticket. It is very easy - so no need to worry about it.
