Hi
I am travelling to Laos with a friend mid-July. From Bangkok we have booked a flight to Vientiane, Laos. We intend on spending a few days travelling through Laos to one of the border crossings and then into Vietnam to travel down the coast and finishing up in Ho Chi Minh from there we will fly back to Bangkok. Has anyone any advice on which border crossing to take? How long it would take to get from Vientiane to a border? Are any of the crossings more dangerous, slow etc than the others? Any advice at all would be most appreciated! Many thanks |

Hi,
The best and fastest in from Vientiane to Lak Xao (in Savannaket Province). Road in good condition. There are my buses to Vinh, Danang, Hue, Hanoi, HCMC... departure from Vientiane going by this way.
