| Verona | Verona to Venice by Car Posted: Thu June 5, 2008 05:26 AM UTC
Hi again: I'll be in Venice this month. How long will it take to drive from Venice to Verona by car? Do car rental companies in Italy have cars with navigation systems that give you turn by turn navigations? Is it a pretty straightforward drive for a 1st time driver (with no passengers to help)in Italy (especially within the cities themselves) or will it be difficult to drive by myself? Grazie

1. maybe the cars have GPS, ask them. But ask them too if it's in english or just italian, but it musn't be difficult anyway.
2. Consider the possibilty to go by train /www.trenitalia.it), maybe it is much cheaper, let alone if you go without anybody else because you have to rent a car, drive on your own and once in Verona, you have to find a parking for, let's say, 6 hours? 3. Have a look at http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/int/dyn/con

Venice - Verona is quite easy. If you take the car at Piazzale Roma (Venice itself) you drive along the bridge to mainland, and then follow the green signs to Autostrada A4 towards Milan.
If you exit at VERONA SUD, take the direction of center (you enter a little tunnel) and then the center is ..... always straigth forward. Just decide where you wanna park during the opera (parking Arena - see my Verona tip -) may be the most obvious solution. Ciao Francesco

As Francesco says, this is very straightforward.
I don't see where anyone estimated the time. It's about 1hr 45 minutes. (75 miles, 125 km)

I've done it in reverse and it took about an hour and tweny minutes. As Francesco says, it is very easy and very well marked. Just your usual road map will be sufficient and follow the signs. It's a really simple trip when compared to some of the trips you can do in Europe. It's also a lovely trip, but would you expect anything less, this is Italy we are talking about after all. Enjoy!
