Istanbul Woman on own - what to do in the evening
Posted: Wed June 4, 2008 07:39 PM UTC
I am to spend three nights on my own in Istanbul in July. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what how I can spend the evenings safely. I don't want to waste time sitting in my hotel room. Please help.

Istanbul is a very safe place. Why don't you go to a hamman - stunning at night when you see the dark sky through a white ceiling with open stars in it. You can quite happily spend 3 hours plus in them. Think I went to the Cerebuti or something - the one with the hexagonal plinth in the middle - check them out during the day and go in during the evening.

I was in Istanbul by myself and had no problems finding things to do at night.

Lots of great restaurants - cheap to expensive and they were happy to serve me alone. I did go to a bath house one night but didn't keep the card so no idea where that was.

Also wandered by the river and markets by myself with no problems.

The night atmosphere around the Blue Mosque is also great, particulalry if there is a show on.

It happened to me to walk on my own
Well, to be honestly I woldn't advice you to stay alone in the street.
Many hotels offer a kind of entertainment called 'Turkish night', a party with dance performance. I heard a lot of positive feedback about that, you might stick to this option too
