I don't surf so take this with a grain of salt but most surfers head for Puerto Viejo just up the coast. Salsa Brava is apparently the best surf break in all of Costa Rica? It would be easy enough to stay at Cahuita and go up to Viejo every day. Though the National Park at Cahuita had some decent looking waves when I was there. There was definitely places to rent boards at Viejo and I think there was one guy at Cahuita but my memory is a bit shaky on that. Good luck -

The beach break in Playa Cocles is great, Salsa Brava is a big wave!!!
