I don't know this ferry company but I'd think one wouldn't need a reservation to travel on foot. Just turn up in time at the docks to buy a ticket, they might not wait for people standing in line at the ticket booth.

You can definitely travel on ferries even if you don't have a car! It's not really an issue of there not being enough space on board for passengers without cars, so these passengers don't need to book.

If you've got any questions re booking, try phoning the ferry company: +47 76118245

Just returned from Lofoten. Of course you can take the ferry if you have no car. Many people do this to get from Moskenes to Bodoe to the airport. I think they use the naming car ferry to make a separation between this connection and the Hurtigruten boat connecting the whole Norwegian coast from Bergen to Kirkenes.
If you leave from / come to Stamsund you can take the real Hurtigruten ship.

For your requested connection see here:
http://ruteinfo.hurtigruten.com/en/default.aspx?rnr=86

Have fun! It is a great destination! Hope to get forward with my pages soon.
Christian.

PS: I am not sure if you have to make a reservation at all as you probably will have no cabin for these few hours and you have no car.

I'm interested in taking this ferry, too, but wonder if you can give me some information about Bodo. I may have to stay overnight there and would like to know what the city is like. Any must-sees, and any recommendations for where to stay?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

I haven't been to Bodo, just came to and left Lofoten via Narvik. For the ferry connection I recalled what the many people told me during my trip.

Just have a look at the Bodoe section of VT:

Otherwise maybe one of the search results in the web helps more:

Happy travels and take care! Christian.

Yes you definately can :o)
Even if you come with bisycle you will be let onto the ferry as long as it haven't closed.

The ferry to Moskenes goes very frequently during summer.

For Bodø;
saltstraumen
kjærringøy
aviation museum
walk around the litle-boat-harbour
rønvik-mountain with a superb view to landegode and lofoten
there are museums and galeries too
