| Cebu City | Where is the heart of the action in Cebu City? Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 08:20 PM UTC
I'm an American visiting the Philippines this summer and will be in Boracay for 3 nights, Cebu for 3 2 nights and Bohol for 3 nights. Was wondering if there are any activities that anyone could recommend that I don't miss out on in any of these places ? I'd like to visit Allegre guitar factory in Cebu. And wherever the heart of the nightlife action is, along with the best area in Cebu for the therapy massages, with the highest quality ? Really appreciate the help , I am very excited aboutt he trip.

It has been such a long time since I last visited, so can't comment on specifics here. As to Cebu, the places that were hip & "cool" two decades ago are probably outmoded by new ones. So, I can comment on general touristy things you can do/see in both Cebu & Bohol.
Cebu: Taoist temple in the Beverly Hills area, rose farms in Busay (if they're still there), the famous look-out spot "TOPS" in Busay Hills that gives you a wonderful vantage point of Cebu and surrounding areas, Mactan Bridge en route to the airport, Mactan beaches, the many restaurants in Lahug, try Cebu's famous "lechon" (the locals will lead you to the best in town), Lapu-Lapu shrine, Magellan's cross, Santo Nino church, Cebu Cathedral, Casa Gorordo, Colon Street (the oldest street in the country), Fort San Pedro, Fuente Osmena, try the street food sold (barbecue) in Larsian, try Filipino oriented restaurants (e.g., Lantaw, Chikaan, Lighthouse, etc.), visit Kawasan Falls, diving in Moalboal, see the white sand beaches of the south & visit the idyllic small sea side towns of the north. Also, the wildlife sanctuary in Olanggo island is about a 15-min. boat ride from Mactan island. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear you'll have time to visit nearby Bantayan Island. Bohol: do a tour of Tagbilaran city, visit Baclayon church & the historical Blood Compact site, see the endangered tarsiers of Bohol, stay in Panglao island, definitely see the famous Chocolate Hills, and try their sweet delicacy called "peanut kisses." Goodluck & enjoy the South/South Central part of the Philippines!
