| Bucharest | Bucharest to Brasov Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 05:59 PM UTC
Hello.
I need to get from Otopeni to Bucuresti Nord train station in order to take a train to Brasov. Here are my questions: 1. What is best way to get from Otopeni to Gara de Nord? 2. How long does it take to travel from Otopeni to Gara de Nord? 3. What are the expected costs of both travel from Otopeni to Gara de Nord and the train from Gara de Nord to Brasov? Thank you! |

Hello. There is a possibility with a change:
- Express Bus 783 till Piata Victoriei stop and the subway, one stopfrom Piata Victoriei 2 to Gara de Nord (North Station). A double card for the bus costs 7 lei (~1.8E) and it can be bought from the Airport next to the exit. A subway card (2 trips) costs 2.2 lei (~0.6E) The bus runs every half hour. However, traffic jams are quite often in that area, so there might be delays. A map of the subway that you need is here: http://www.metrorex.ro/index.php?p=9. A map including the 783 bus itinerary is here: http://www.ratb.ro/download/harti/autobuze.pdf For more details you can contact me by e-mail or check the websites: www.ratb.ro (buses) or www.metrorex.ro (subway). Avoid taxis! You might pay a lot of money and still be stuck in traffic! From the train station there are many trains on to Brasov. I advise you to take a Rapid (Sneltrain) or Intercity, they are comfortable and reasonably cheap. Good luck and good trip!

I forgot to mention: theoretically, the trip between Otopeni and Gara de Nord should take approx half an hour, but due to traffic jams it can be much longer... Like I said, taxi will not save you from that.
From Bucharest to Brasov the trip is between 2.5h (usually) and 4h, due to works on the railway system, close to Brasov.
