I don't know what you mean by "usage patterns" or what sort of numbers you what to know. I suppose you have checked Google for answers, but if you haven't, you might find the information you're looking for there. It includes maps, web sites, maps. etc. Parts the Pedway are closed in the evening, but the walkways around the underground garages, the metra and subway stations are always open. I use it mainly to avoid bad weather.
