| San Diego | Weather in March Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 01:27 PM UTC
Hi
I'm looking at trips to San Diego in March (18th - 25th) I assume the weather will be nice. I have visited before in May and the weather was perfect and was hotter than indicated on www.weather.com. What is the weather generally like in March? Thanks Helen |

It's cold in March. It will be sunny but the water temps are still pretty cold. If you wear a wetsuit, that should help insulate you if you want to surf.
This past May it was only hot 1 weekend. For the most part, it's been a pretty cold May. June isn't starting out too hot either. Temps are 70-80 degrees F. I prefer it to be 85-90! To me, that's summer!

March in Southern California, including SD, may be perfect for you, which should be around the 70s. It's the spring time, so this kind of weather is on the cool"ish" side for many Southern Californians (including myself for many years until I moved North East 5 years ago), but it will be quite nice for others esp. visitors from out-of-town. I noticed, though, that as you go further inland in San Diego (also true in LA), the weather tends to be warmer than if you were to stay on the coastal part.
Goodluck & enjoy beautiful Southern California!

BTW...to be more specific--it would be around high 60s to low 70s (Fahrenheit). Again, goodluck & enjoy California in the spring!

The weather is always nice in San Diego! Very few days of rain and should be quite nice for someone from Manchester. :-) One of my friends in Birmingham (UK) was saying that it was very cool until the last month or so. You should find it in the upper teens to low 20's during that time of the year. Here's a helpful link....

for people who are use to hot weather...march is still cool. if you are coming from a northern climate then sitting on the beach is usually comfortable. swimming in the ocean is almost out of the question except for the very young (who endure anything) or with a wet suit. i'd recommend getting a hotel with a heated pool if you want some "water" time.
