Perth can anybody advise me on school with a holiday visa
Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 12:22 PM UTC
im thinking of travelling to perth on a 6month holiday visa with my 8 year old son, i was wondering is it possible to put my son in school while we sre on this visa as im not sure how to do it without keeping him out of school. i hope to find work over there as i do not pass for any visa options but if i dont i would just come back after the 6 months,so my only concern is my son missing out on school for these months. does anybody know if its possible or if there are any loopholes or ways around this situation. i did hear that only a child over 12 can be put in school on a holiday visa and i dont really understand why that is or if its true.
thank you in advance for any advice.

check that a Holiday Visa allows you to work first then you can start on the correct footing

no,cant work on holiday visa,i know that, work is not really my main issue just yet, staying pover there is just a thought at the moment. if i did find work i would cancel the holiday visa and apply for sponsorship. my main conern is heving my son in school while all this is happening.

start questioning at the school your child attends and the local education office - if they are unwilling to help then try online for homeschooling in austrailia - or get an idea of things the school will be doing and keep up yourself ( are the school online? will someone be willing to have half an hour a day ( if the times can coincide) to keep you both posted
i am sure there will be loads of ways around this

I dont know what country you are from but that will greatly affect your visa options.

no one can work on a holiday/tourist visa, it is illegal!

you may be able to enquire about a student visa for your son,but i doubt immigration will give your son a student visa and you a holiday visa plus im not sure what the age limits are, the best thing to do is speak immigration, like i said before, it will depend on what country you are from.

www.immi.gov.au

they have all the information you need.
