I want to take market photographs in Lisbon--especially fish subjects but other fresh foods as well. The Ribeira seems to be the biggest so I would like to stay near by. Recommendations for a nice hotel? Would there be other interesting and photogenic markets in Lisbon I should consider.

Hi there,
You could stay in the Vila Gale Opera. It's near the Ribeira Market and has a nice view to the river Tejo. You can make the reservation online www.vilagale.pt Lisbon has many fish markets, in the old parts of the city, like Alfama and Belem. It's easy to find them just travel in the "electrico". In S. Bento you will find a very small market.

That market is in Cais Sodré! When I´ve been in Lisbon I have stayed very close to that area! I´ve rented an apartment in www.travelingtolisbon.com . It was apartment 53! You have river view! And it is very close to the train station, so you can go the beach if you want! About other markets, you can go to a flea market too! You can go there Saturday morning and Tuesdays! It is in a area called Alfama, but I can not explain where it is. I hope this helps! :0)
