You go through customs in Bodrum and need to get a visa there, seeing as you haven't written where you are from! Prices are usually 10 pounds, 15€ or 20$.
The airport is only 16 miles, 22km away from Kos town, even half an hour seems too long to travel that distance.

Hello Ash.I can imagine that this is new for you but you could chill out a bit. This trip has been accomplished by thousands/millions of people so i will try to give you some comfort. You get out of the airplane. You get a taxi as there is no bus service. Unless you are coming by Aegean Air which provides bus transfer. If you take the taxi you pay your 25Euros for the 25 to 30' minute ride and you are at the harbour where you are supposed to take the boat. That harbour is the Kos town's main harbour which only one. No way you can get lost. Then i do not know what time you would be getting here but there are the following departures

0900, 0930, 1000 and 1630
There is also a 1200 one but once per week. If i had dates i would be able to give you more info. Then you pay your fare which is between 15 to 28Euros + 4 Euros port tax and you enter the boat.

Then you (of course) go through passport control. They check your passport, pay your visa, tell you goodbye and then you are off for your adventures. How was that?If you wish add ons let me know. Here to help you..:)Kostas
