| Florence | Florence to Lago Trasimeno Posted: Sun June 1, 2008 09:15 AM UTC
Hi,I'm arriving in Florence about 11am 17th june, and have to get straight to Torricella di Magione on Lake Trasimeno, near Perugia in Umbria. I have heard there is a train from Florence but it doesn't come up in Trenitalia website.
I will be returning to Florence 20th june for 3 days, I have tickets for Uffizi 22nd june, but would like any suggestions of what to see in a limited time, maybe things not on Tourist map!!. Grazie, Serena. |

Check "Magione" on the Trenitalia site. You will find a variety of solutions.
Torricella is a 'frazione' or village, within the comune of Magione. I would imagine it would be easy enough to get a cab or bus from Magione to Torricella.

Hmmmn, once I spelled the name of the town correctly (I initially did "Toricella" - oops), the solution came up on the trenitalia website just fine. However, it's not like many trains stop there ;-) NOTE: it's not "Torricella di Magione" in trenitalia, it's just "Torricella".
The trenitalia website shows this for June 17th: 11:02 dep FI.SMN arr Torricella at 14:45, change in PERUGIA at 13:01 15:09 dep FI.SMN arr Torricella at 17:07, change in Terontola-Cortona at 16:37 I am guessing that you can't make the first train (are you arriving in Florence at the airport or a train station, and is it before or after 11 a.m.?), so the second train means that you'll have time for a lesiurely lunch in Florence while waiting for the 3:09 train. Note that all trains above are regional trains, so you don't make reservations - you just buy the tickets, validate them, and get on... Bill
