| Cork | Ardfield B&B in Ballinhassig? Posted: Sat May 31, 2008 03:43 PM UTC
We have accomodations at Ardfield B&B in Ballinhassig, Co. Cork. We are trying to determine how far this is from....well everything. We are interested in seeing Kinsale, Cobh, Blarney Castle, Rock of Cashel and Tipperary...but should any of these be tackled while we are in Wexford or on the way to Galway? Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi again!
I looked up the info for you and came up with this. i couldn't find Ballinhassig so I went with Cork. Cork to Blarney=4 miles Cork to Kinsale=13 Cork to Cobh=9 Cork to Killarney=45 Cork to Cashel=50 Cork to Tipperary=42 Kinsale and Cobh are going to be south of you so I would do those together. Come back to Cork, and then do Blarney and Killarney. Then head to Cashel and Tipperary and then on to Galway. I will get my map out tomorrow and put something together for you. That is my passion, planning trips in Ireland, I always have a plan when we go, I make reservations for the fisst 2 nights and then we let the wind carry us and stop where we want. If this is something that sounds good to you, the best places I found for finding somewhere to stay is to pop into a pub and ask around. Diana

Good morning! This was great! I actually spoke with Bernadette at Ardfield and she said pretty much the same thing "We'll sit down with the map and figure out what you want to see and how to get you there." I'm thinking we may hit Rock of Cashel/Tipperary on the way from Wexford to Cork so that we can focus on Kinsale/Cobh and then move on to Killarney/Blarney the next day. Did I mention we leave four weeks from THIS Friday?!?
We actually planned all of our hotels out as we were told July is high season and we were running the risk of not finding something that would accomodate all 6 of us in one location. If it were just my hubby and I, we would probably just wing it and stop when we wanted to stop. :-)

Ballinhassig is just a few miles outside the city on the route to Bandon. You will be fine doing Kinsale, Cobh etc from there. I think it would make a lot more sense to come along the coastal route from Wexford to Cork because that's quite a scenic route. You could then make a detour for the Rock of Cashel on your way to Galway.
