I am planning now for a trip in June of 2009 that includes wife and 2 children (ages 12 and 8). Flying into Cancun, renting a car to go down to Puerto Morelos for a day and a half then to Chetumal, staying there for same time period then off to Palenque with a 2 and a half day stay there. for the second half of this whirl wind tour is then to drive up to Uxmal, and a large portion of the Ruta Puuc - staying in Ticul for 2 and a half days then off to Valladolid and Ek Balam for 2 and a half days then off Cancun to drop-off rent-a car then to Isla Mujeres by bus and ferry for the last 2 and a half days. What a vacation!!! Any and all advice, hints, comments and tips are graciously sought and welcomed.

If you are not very familiar with Puerto Morelos check out my pages.
WE went there last December. Great place for snorkeling and good food. It sounds like you have planned really nice vacation. We are thinking to do similar route next winter. Last December we went to Tulum, Coba, Valladolid for day trips. In Coba you can climb pyramid. How familiar are you with driving in Mexico? I have some tips on that.
