I took an off-season tour of the bull ring in Sevilla. We were led into a chamber behind the seats of the arena, a chamber very near the infirmary. There were several mememtos on the wall, including the head of the bull that killed Manolete. More interesting was an oil painting nearby depicting a matador sitting perhaps in a dark room with a bull's head resting in his lap, as if he's comforting the dying bull. The point of view is of the matador being surprised by a harsh light, perhaps as if someone has opened the door and come upon this strange scene.

Do you know the artist and the name of the painting?

First of all I must say I don't know. The fact is that I was there and I didn't notice the painting you're talking about, but I'd like to be notified if somebody answers because I am curious about it!
