Palu Palu / Lore Lindu National Park
Posted: Fri May 30, 2008 03:44 PM UTC
Hi, there.
I want to see the megaliths in Lore Lindu National Park. It'll be my first time visiting Indonesia. I'll be flying in from Makassar.

1. Is Palu the best place to stay to see the megaliths? I'm not interested in long trekking trips that last more than a day.

2. Will I be able to find an English speaking guide in Palu?

3. I read that you could tour the park on horseback. True?

4. I'm a vegan. Are there any vegan friendly options in Palu, or should I bring my own food?

5. Can I get a ticket to Palu from Makassar the day before I want to depart, or show I do it a few days in advance?

6. Is Palu safe for women travellers?

Help!
Thanks!
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

Megaliths in Lore Lindu spread in Besoa Valley, Bada Valley, and Napu Valley. Those sites are very exotic, but need a bit trekking effort to access. If you don't want to do trekking, you can access few megalith around entrance of Lore Lindu Natpark in Palu. I think natpark ranger can speak simply english. If you're a vegan, it is very easy to find vegan food at food stall in Palu (no food stall in the park !). Try menu 'Gado-gado' (mixed vegetable with coconut souce). Merpati Airlines serve Palu-Makasar route daily. If i were you, i'd prefer seeing megalith from Bada Valley with itinerary; Makasar-Tana Toraja-Poso Lake-Bada Valley overland.

have a nice adventure !

Hi Michelle,
If you are going to Tana Toraja before you head up north you could engage an English speaking guide called Daud from Rantepo who takes travellers through this area. His mobile for texting and calling is +6285242177888
Pamela.
