I think April would be OK unless the wet season starts early.

End April/beginning May may possibly be a bit wet. I was there May last year and while it was hot there were one or two heavy showers each day and the sea was choppy at times. Still loved every minute. Its an enchanting place.

I have also been there in February. Weather absolutely perfect. Sea calm.

It is not possible to give precise weather for Phuket at this time of the year. Traditionally the Songkran holiday in mid-april marks the end of the dry season. My experience of being in Patong at that time of year has been hot days with evening thunderstorms; some of which have been impressive! I already have booked to be there again next year at that time. Songkran can be good fun ;-)

Please read my Phuket pages for some more tips.

Regards

John

April is still OK. I spent the whole month of April in Phuket last year.
It rained a few times, but on the whole, I had nice and sunny weather.

I agree with jhonaalex, the weather these days is very hard to predict, i went there twice, once in April for 2 weeks, every morning the weather is really sunny and nice for walking at the beach but when days started get dark, there will be windy and raining, sometimes storm came along, but most of the day its a sunny day. and last i went was in June, its pretty wet seasons on that time, i only can see the sun every once in a while, perhaps today hots and tomorrow might be raining..sometimes you can see the rain every alternet days..will see if you lucky enough to see sun a lot

good luck

Hi, a site to check out with all the stats for the weather is:

www.phuket-plaza.com/weather.html

In a nutshell April has some rain but considerably less than most months. With water temperature around 28 degrees swimming is not a problem!

There is so much to do even if it does rain it makes you get off your sun lounge!

Tracey

Kitty, I am here in Phuket right now and have been for the past 2 months and not seen much rain at all !

April onwards is considered to be 'low season' and most towns and beach resorts go to sleep in varying degrees during May, however Patong never sleeps .... famous for it's tsunami experience as much as its gorgeous beaches and wild nightlife. I recently stayed at the Same Same Guest House in Patong anyway the point of this message is to let you know that if you are a couple, a lone female or females travelling to this part of the world I stumbled upon this nice cheap budget accommodation, which I think is European owned and run by friendly Thai staff, is cheap as chips but clean and has sizable double rooms with en suite shower and air-con, cable tv etc. When you first get there it seems a little weird because the guesthouse has a beauty salon below at street level, but don't be put off... not far to go for a manicure and pedicure 

Its only a short walk away from Patong Beach and Bangla Rd. For any girl who isn't familiar with Patong it is very much a "mans town" with endless girly bars down one street called Bangla Rd but don't be put off... there are some great night clubs and bars and there is lots to see and some great new shopping places to visit like Jungceylon too !

As this place has a "couple and female only" policy, there are no single beer swilling men and no bar girls coming and going like in most other places.

I felt very safe and would recommend this guest house to any travelling females, especially anyone travelling for the first time to Phuket.

I do not have an email address but their website ( which is very basic) is www.samesamephuket.com and their phone is +66 8153 83331

Other quick tips are only pay 100 baht for any tuk tuk in and around Patong, great food at Dangs Cafe (especially their breakfast) close to the Jungceylon end of Bangla Rd..... OH and never TIP more than 10-20 baht in restaurants !

If I can be of any help on other matters please send me a message….
