Schiphol Time to get checked in luggage and clear customs & immigration in Schipohl
Posted: Fri May 30, 2008 02:55 AM UTC
Hi, our flight lands at 6.00 am at Schipohl from the US and we need to catch the 8.42 Thalys to Paris. We will have checked bags and will need to pass customs/immigration because we are US citizens. Is that adequate time to make the train?

Thanks so much!

It looks like you are catching the Thalys from the terminal at Schipol so you should be OK unless the plane is particularly delayed. The only downside is that the trains run exactly to schedule, so if you are 30 seconds late...you've missed it.

The Thalys is a very nice train and you will get a light meal included, similar to plane service, if you are sitting in first class.

You will have plenty of time. Handling of luggage usually is very fast at Schiphol and if you don't look like a thug passing customs should be fine as well...

Check the airport site for more information and for shopping etc while you wait...

Normally you can make it to the train, Outside custums is also a small Supermarked or other shops to grap something to eat.

Just dont get a delay from the states :)

If you get delayed and you have an "open" ticket on the Thalys you can just exchange it for the next one.

Should not be a problem.

A week ago I arrived at 7AM, went through it all, had 15 miutes to take pictures and hopped onto my 7.50AM morning train.

Most important thing........in Europe it doesnt matter if you are a US citizen. You will get no special treatment in Europe if you are a US citizen.....
