| Thessaloniki | TAXI to NEA PLAGIA from the airport SKG Posted: Thu May 29, 2008 08:37 PM UTC
Anybody having any clue how much I should pay for a ride from Thessaloniki Airport to Nea PLagia on a Wednesday at 2AM (night)? Should I rather call a taxi company or is it ok to take a taxi driectly from the airport? Which taxi company is recommendable (in order to not to get ripped off!!)
Thanks for any sage advice! |

I dont know but a wild guess would be 30-35 euro. It is going to be "double tariff" because of the time, and there is a small airport surcharge. There is an info table in front of the passenger's seat. There is a taxi queue at the arrivals section of the airport and you are supposed to take the first taxi in line. Or you can call Eurotaxi, the only taxi company I know, but this wont make any difference and will cost you a few euro more (because you called them); and it's "strange" anyway because there will be so many taxis there. Not getting ripped of is a matter of attitude and luck. Pretend you know where Nea Plagia is (if you can) or you may go in (a few) circles. They will most likely fish this info out of you anyway (asking for example something like "should I go this or that way?"). Having said all these, it is most likely everything will go OK (can u believe we are just talking about a taxi ride). Call the person who is expecting you when you get in the taxi, to tell them casually you've arrived blah blah, if you can, and show them you are not "exactly a tourist". They may be hesitant to take you because it is inconvenient and a bit out of the way (but they have to, and if they dont the next in line will). Good luck.
