Nice Any Ideas Please??
Posted: Thu May 29, 2008 01:08 PM UTC
Hey, hows everyone doing?

Im in need of some Info please...........

Im due to arrive In Nice by train on the 19-23 June with My Girlfriend. I have provisionally booked a room in the Medicis Hotel. Id like to know if anyone has been there. If so was it any good?

Second Question, stay with it it will be my last one ;p

Would i be better off staying in hotels around the coast like Eza,Beauliey Sur Mer,vence etc ? I dont know the area at all so i have no idea what its like for nights out. Im thinking Nice has all that?

Im Uba confused so any helpful suggestions would be great and it would stop my endless scouring of the Net for places to stay!!

Thanks for reading this far and not falling asleep :)

Im looking forward to your ideas.

Don't know the Medicis but I know Nice well and it's not well located at all, far from the Old Town and the Promenade des Anglais. Overspill of usual station parasites and lowlifes (railway station is nearby) also makes this area not always feel terribly safe at night.

Personally, I always prefer to stay in Nice, near the old town, it's far more vibrant than the likes of Eze, etc. where I would soon get bored in the evening. Vence is larger (and lovely) but still too small for me (and too inland for me) but horses for courses really. What with the traffic in the summer, it could take a long time to reach the coast (stressful driving condition as well).

Hi I have not stayed at the Medicis Hotel so cannot help with that one.

Nice is nice (sorry!) but it is a big town and if that is what you want stay there, The other places you mention are smaller and you have to bear in mind they will offer so much choice but they would be my first choice as I do not like big towns much. But the railway runs right along the coast and it is easy to get out and about for a reasonable price.

Nice is more happening, day and night. During the day the old town market and the shops/restaurants along the Cours Saleya are plentiful. At night, the area is alive with diners and those that love to walk. The Rue Massena has excellent restaurants and night life. The hotel I chose was within walking distance to the old town and R. Massena as well as the beach. The Hotel Vendome suited my wife and me at the central located hotel. See their website: http://www.vendome-hotel-nice.com/

Nice is the ideal place for you to stay, I think. Not because there is anything wrong with the other places - there isn't. It's just that Nice is a big city and has a huge range of things to do, places to eat etc, day and night. It is also within very easy reach of all the places you mention, if you want to visit them.
