Yes, absolutely possible, you could get the train ticket at the same day you arrive to travel to Bandung by Train.
From Cengkareng/Jakarta AirPort you could take a DAMRI shuttle BUS with the destination to GAMBIR TRAIN station.
From Gambir Train station, you could take ARGO GDE Executive train which is scheduled at : 06.15 am, 09.10 am, 11.45 am, 02.45 pm, 05.45 pm and the last at 07.30 pm. or PARAHYANGAN train which is scheduled at 05.15 am, 08.30 am, 10.45 am, 01.30 pm, 04.30 pm.
At Gambir Train Station, If someone offer you a train ticket, please kindly said Thank You and tell them that you would buy a ticket from a ticket counter.Have a nice trip. RegardMeiyergani

Another option is to travel by van to Bandung, it's faster than train. Takes 2 hrs on the new highway, Rp35,000 one way (2 yrs ago). Comfy too.

Go to McDonalds in Sarinah in Jalan Thamrin. There's a guy there that uses a table (yes a table, next to other burger-munching patrons) as his booking office. I forgot the name of this transport company, but you could just ask the McDonalds staff for direction. In Bandung, you get off at a terminal at the edge of the city. Take cab to city.

One time i missed my van and the dispatcher referred me to another transpo company that does the Jakarta-Bandung route -- XTRANS. They are a bigger company, more frequent trips but more expensive (Rp60,000 one way). Their main terminal in Bandung is in Cihampelas(?) just outside the city, as well as in a mall in Jl Braga (city proper). Sorry, I dont have XTRANS' address but you could maybe ask the guy in McDonalds.
