| Petra | Transport by bus from the Dead Sea to Petra to Aqaba Posted: Thu May 29, 2008 10:39 AM UTC
Hi,
Im visiting Jordan in July, can anyone tell me how I should travel from the Dead Sea (movenpick hotel) to Petra, then from Petra to Aqaba? Can I get a bus between all 3 places and if so, where from and how regular are they? If not, what other options are there? Im spending 3 nights in Petra - is that enough to see the sights?! Thanks!!!!! Helen |

Hi there
We hired a car in Jordan quite reasonably, as we figured public transport would be thin on the ground. Maybe others can shed some light as to whether there are regular buses to the tourist destinations. The Movenpick Resort is really nice at the Dead Sea and has mud to apply while you float in the sea. 3 nights is fine for a visit to Petra in my opinion. We only did 2 nights with one day in Petra and I had had enough by then (entered at 7am and left at around 5pm). Did all the main sights there but did see that there were places further afield to visit which would have been nice on another day. You will get more value for money buying a 2 or 3 day pass anyway, rather than the one day. Have a great time - we certainly did!

Hi
There is no bus from Dead sea to Petra, and it is very difficult to find a bus from ( movenpick hotel ) to any where else, only bu bus. The option is to have taxi to Amman then by bus to Petra or taxi direct to prtra from the hotel which it will cost you not less than 80 JD. Aso for 3 days in Petra it is very good, 2 days also good Enjoy it

My wife and I hired a taxi from Amman to Petra - paid approx 50 JD and had a great driver who was very knowledgable about sites/history of area and wanted to make sure we saw anything of interest. Spent two full days in Petra, then hired a taxi to take us to Wadi Rum and on to Aqaba. The driver drove us to Wadi Rum and waited for six hours while we did a 5 hr camel trek - then drove us to Aqaba - all for 80 JD (this was in 2005). We later took the bus back to Amman and hired another cab to take us on a short trip to Dead Sea and back to the airport at day's end. The moral of the story: you can easily find transport by cab that will allow you to dictate your route and when/where you go - the driver will likely be as knowledgable and eager to show you the sites as each of ours was. There is more to see than you may think so please read up on Jordan sites and don't be afraid to have a driver take you to any of the castles, etc... I wish we'd done more...

hi
I live in Jordan-petra you can find transporation from Amman to the Dead sea, and from Dead sea to Amman but it is difficut to manage your time >> so the best way is to take a taxi from Dead sea to Amaan (the southern bus stop )and there u find buses to Wadi mousa which the city where petra is, and from petra to Aqaba it is too easy >there is a buses . the big propleme you will face is :there is no regular time for the buses, it moves when it becomes full!!! transporation by taxi is easier but it is more expensive....and now it is not like 2005, the prices up and up..so it is about 100 jd (about 140 $) from Amman to Petra and almost the same from petra to Aqaba>> 3 days in Petra are good...hope u agood journey> and u r welcome in my country. if u have more quastions i can help and this is my e-mail hamadin1971@hotmail.com
