Phoenix salt river water temp May 31
Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 06:27 AM UTC
Just wondering what the water temp might be if we go tubing down the salt river this saturday, may 31. tried to find info on other sites and couldn't. i really don't want to go if the water is going to basically the snow run-off from flag. have rafted a lot in durango and if the water is ice cold, to me at least, it takes the fun out of the trip no matter what the outside temp is. guess age is getting to me. thx, patty kaufman

Others may have better info but, I thought the Salt River was a dry gulch that only fills with heavy rain fall.

Have done this, think it was early summer, but the water was fine. I would remember if it was ice cold because I hate ice cold water in anything other than a drinking glass.

We had a front whip through last week that shot the temps down so they're only now again going back to 100, but the White Mountains that feed the Salt River got a bit of snow which will be melting off into the river now.
Basically, it will probably be chillier than normal, but tolerable. With it getting so hot, too, I would imagine that it's going to be very crowded this coming weekend.
