| Tokyo | Is Toyko Bayside worth a visit? Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 04:07 AM UTC
I am planning about half a day there.
How do I get there? ( from Ueno or Shibuya ) What is the best time of the day to travel there? What are the attractions? |

I don't know much about Tokyo bay side, but we are planning to take one of those boat trips www.suijobus.co.jp/english to see Tokyo from the water.

To get over to Odaiba, you can catch the Yurikamome(at the Yamanote line's Hamamatsucho Station) but I think it's more fun to take the boat across from Hinode Pier (at the Yurikamome's Hinode station).
I think that the most interesting thing about Odaiba is the architecture and the engineering, so if you aren't an architect or an engineer, it might be boring. It's nice and all, with a pleasant park like atmosphere, and Tokyoites living amongst the density enjoy it as a relaxing getaway spot, but to me, it isn't that much fun for a tourist. Picture a seaside promenade with a bunch of malls added to it. I would make it a morning trip. If you want to walk around it might be hot on all that concrete under the sun. You can tour the TBS building... By the way, the Nikko Hotel there has the most amazing spa amenities. The indoor pool room opens up to a large balcony where there is a simulated onsen pool, which looks over the rainbow Bridge and the city lights. Fantastic at night.
