| Naples | Getting from cruise port in Naples to Sorrento Posted: Mon May 26, 2008 09:01 PM UTC
I was wondering if the hydrofoil from the cruise ship port would be preferable to taking the train from Naples to Sorrento. We have limited time and are open to any suggestions/recommendations you have. Also, if anyone has a favorite place to visit in Sorrento we would appreciate knowing that as well.

I for one much prefer to do the trip by ferry or as you say, hydrofoil. Either way it is not a long trip, but it is the best way to see the Bay of Naples and of course the beautiful Amalfi coastline. You can continue on down to Positano on the ferry as well if you wish, and it can be done quite easily in a day, if you work out your ferry times Try the MetrodelMare (I think that's right) website for more information. Or just walk along the dockside at the Port and you will see all the ticket seller's booths in plain view. It is really quite simple to work out what's going where and at what time, if you can't work it out for yourself, just ask - they'll soon tell you. There is no need to book in advance.
When in need of a cool drink or a coffee in Sorrento, find your way to the Overseas Visitors Club overlooking the boat harbour. The views are breathtaking, you won't want to leave.
