Edmonton Standard of living in Edmonton
Posted: Mon May 26, 2008 10:03 AM UTC
Hi!

I'm actually travelling over to Edmonton for an exchange program this summer. I'm curious about the standard of living in Edmonton. How much CND will I need to bring to enable me to live reasonably for 6 weeks?

Thanks!

I would think 150% of what your daily expenses are in Singapore. 200% would be a very good standard.

Hmm.. so would CND$1,000 be enough for 6 weeks? As my meals will be provided by the residence and thus eating out will mostly likely be during the weekend. But then again, I would like to visit some interesting attractions too. =)

Do you drink alcohol? Are you a woman that gets drinks bought for them? Are you a man that buys drinks for women? Do you want to go out to nice restaurants? Do you prefer fast food restaurants?

Give me a lifestyle to price?

You have 6 weekends at $25/weekend day equals $300, at $50 = $600.
1 beer or drink = $4-6. A dinner plate at an average restaurant is $8-20

Alberta is the quickest growing economy is Canada, many of the restaurants have shut down in the city and those that are open are very expensive even for street food. I've traveled all over Canada and found edmonton to be the most expensive for food and alcohol.
