Posted: Sun May 25, 2008 07:12 PM UTC
Hi All,

Goes anyone know how much room (seating pitch) is on this airline flying from Heathrow to Sri Lanka? Also is there a free bar service and what is the quaility like of the food served?

Feedback most welcome.
Thanks Sunglow.

Some of this data should be available on your airline's website. You could also try:
http://www.airliners.net/aircraft-data/ (Look under Aircraft Data, if you know your aircraft's specific type).
http://www.airlinequality.com (Lots of information here, too).

I was recently on Hong Kong to Colombo flight and seating was cramped. Food and drinks were decent but the service was awful and quite possibly the least attractive stewardesses on any airline I have ever flown.

"possibly the least attractive stewardesses on any airline I have ever flown."

Umm, Saint, is this really a good comment to make on VT? Service levels, yes, I can understand you making a comment, and we all do, but -- are you gorgeous yourself? I find your comment demeaning to those FA's, and I would like to apologize to them on your behalf.

The seat pitch is average scheduled, maybe 31 inches. They are the sort that recline into the face of the person behind which caused a few rows coming back. There is free table wine with meals and the occasional juice/tea/coffee in between. The menu is very fancy, flowing script and tied up with a ribbon, lovingly describing promised gastro delights. The food itself is standard TV dinner airline crap. If you get bored with X channels of second rate media you can phone home for $5 a minute. The comment about ugly stewardesses is out of order but it is the sort of thing some people fixate about on such a long flight. I ended up watching the nose cone cam (lovely clouds) and playing virtual poker. The plane was a lot better than the Sri Lanka airlines rust bucket that limps from Colombo to Goa.
