What is the best transport between bangkok and Ma Sai??

By air from Bangkok you fly to Chiang Rai (flight takes roughly 1 1/2 hours) and then bus or taxi or hire car to Mae sai which is roughly 80 Kms. North. Airport is on the North side of Chiang Rai so no need to go into the city. Alternative is bus from Bangkok (travelling time approx. 11 hours)to Chiang Rai and another 1 1/2 hours from Chiang Rai.
