| Budapest | Public transport in Budapest? Posted: Sat May 24, 2008 06:59 AM UTC
Hi all
How can travel 7 year old child with Budapest public transport? I have see that this is free for children up to 6 year and for 65+ people. For students ther is big discount for monthly passes, but for 7 year old children i haven't see anything? We will be in Budapest for 7 days. Must i buy for him standard 7 day ticket without discount? PS - We are me, my life and child. Maybe family ticket or...? Please, suggest us something. |

All the ticket options available are listed here: http://www.bkv.hu/english/jegyek/index.html. Remove the last dot on the link.
You're staying for 7 days, but maybe you don't have to buy the 7-day card if you stay in a central area and have the highlights close. Or you could minimize the use of public transportation by grouping the sights that are close together and take the tram/bus/subway to one of them and walk to the rest. Sorry I can't be of much help.

There is also a cheap ( HUF 2000,- ) 2-day family ticket only for families, where the 6 to 14 years old children have got a valid hungarian student pass. One or two adult and at least one, but at most seven children together may take advantage of it.

If I remember correct that family ticket is only available now for Hungarian families. I tried to buy it with some Norwegians during a guided tour once, but the cashier lady said it was only for Hungarians....

7-day travelcard HUF 4000 For unlimited number of trips on the marked day and 6 consecutive days from 00.00 to 24.00. It is issued to the name of the holder and valid together with a personal identifying document with a photo.
Valid for bus, tram, trolleybus, metro, cog-wheel tram, and the HÉV inside the administrative border of the city, furthermore also for the night lines.

Hello,
Here I have a few more complicated questions 1.We will get in Budapest at Keleti train station and we have to get in 13-th District(13 Kerulet) near by Duna Tower on the Csavargyár Street(Utca).Do you know if there is a metro from the train station to there or another way to travel? 2.In Budapest we need to get every day from Csavargyár Street(Utca-in 13-th District) to the Sziget Island in 3-th District on Mozaik Street(Utca) and also need to know how to travel. Please help us if you can.
