Paraguay Travel Forum

Can anyone tell me anything about Paraguay? Im thinking of spending a good six months out there as I have a work placement year from Uni.

I was born there, and have a Paraguay page, but other than that my knowledge of Paraguay is pretty primitive. My parents lived there for decades and loved it, but then they also have never needed anything fancy to be happy.
I hope someone can be more informative than I can, and maybe I'll learn things as well!

I lived over a year in Paraguay in 1980-1981. I've visited the country twice thereafter. Positive things: wonderful nature and little rain. Wonderful people, once you know them and pick up some Guarani. Negative things: Big gap between people in power and the local people (rich and poor), crime is shifting from the Brazilian border to the Bolivian border, dangerous driving conditions (special at night).
Prepare yourself well to stay healthy; know all there is on tropical deceases and choose the proper anti-maleria drug.

well, be prepared to get bored. I have been there once and got very bored. Its a very small country with nothing to do. The only nice place is the Iguazu Falls, u should definetely go there. Asuncion is a nice city but there's not too much to do there. Sorry to dissapoint u but that's all i can tell u
