| Skopje | Skopje to Sofia Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 03:30 PM UTC
I am planning to travel from Skopje to Sofia on July 4th (great way to spend the 4th of July!!). Are there direct buses? Will I have to change buses? If so, where? Travel times between the 2 cities? If it's a long journey, are there night buses? Would appreciate any information and suggestions.

Yes, there are at least 3 direct buses per day, it is quite straightforward. Travel See www.sas.com.mk, the website of Skopje bus station, for schedules - but confirm at the bus station.
Journey time is 5-6 hours but depending on how long you are stopped at the border and what traffic is like in the outskirts of Sofia. There may be an overnight bus but as it's really too short for a full overnight you might arrive at an awkward time. Remember than Bulgaria is an hour ahead of Macedonia.
