Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Yogyakarta Manohara hotel, Ramayana ballet and beringharjo market
Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 11:04 AM UTC
Hi, I have some more questions.
1. How much is it to stay in Manohara hotel in Borobudur park? If we are allowed to visit Borobudur at 4.30am when it is still dark, how are we going to take photos in the dark? Can we stay there till late in the morning? How much is the entrance fees to the borobudur? If I stay in Manohara, do I have to pay entrance?

2.If we visit Prabanan at night so that we can see the Ramayana ballet, how to take phots of Prabanan ? Or we have to go in the morning to take photos and go again at night to see the ballet.
What is Ramayana ballet? Is it worth watching?

3. What can we see in Berinharjo market? Where is it? How to go there?

Thanks

Chan

Hi Chan
1) Prices for Manohara and Sunrise entrance fees: http://tinyurl.com/3ncfmd
I think entrance fee after 6:00 AM is Rp 93,000 and less for students and Indonesians.

The light is dim at 4:30 AM but by the time you walk to the site and walk up to the top it is really not dark. By 5:30AM there is plenty of light for photos.

You can stay as long as you wish.

Entrance fees for Borobudur are in addition to the hotel cost (see above link).

2) The ballet starts about 19:30 so it is too dark to take photos then. Maybe visit Prambanan in the afternoon to take photos (closes at 17:00). If there is a restaurant nearby you can have dinner. After dinner, go see the Ramanyana. I thought the Ramanyana Ballet at Prambanan in the open-air theatre was very good and definitely worth seeing. Make sure the Ramanyana will be performed at Prambanan when you plan to go. The schedule for 2008 is shown in the link below.

3) Pasar Beringharjo is a traditional market located at Jl A Yani & Jl Pabringan. Just about everything is sold there. (Closes at 16:00)

There is another hotel, Pondok Tingal, which is 700m from the entrance of Borobudur Park. Dormitory style rooms (outside bathroom) are Rp 15,000 and standard rooms are Rp 72,000.
