Budapest Sights between Budapest and Prague

I'll be driving between Budapest and Prague. Can you suggest some interesting locations (e.g. picturesque towns) that would be suitable for a 2-3 hour stop? I'm willing to take a reasonable detour. Thanks

Szentendre, Visegrad and Esztergom are really nice in Hungary. I've been in Banska Stavnica in Slovakia. That's a kind small town with nice area. Bratislava isn't so nice just the old town and the castle (maybe)
Or you should visit Sopron and Fertod.

Ceský Krumlov would be really a fine destination, wherever you turn, you see only pictorial and historical splendour, but it is out of a reasonable detour. ( In the near of austrian border, not far from Linz.) The only city in the near of motorway, which you may take into consideration, is Bratislava. The castle standing on the mountain defines the city's panorama. Bratislava's most beautiful part is the old and cosy downtown lying under the castle. Here can be seen the St. Martin cathedral, where the Hungarian kings were crowned between 1563-1835. You can find also a lot of pubs, cake shops and restaurants.
Have a good trip.

You might have a stop over in Brno, have a beer first (Czech beer is the best around the world), then let your blood alcohol level fall for 2-3 hours while walking around the town. I really liked it, and it is actually just off the motorway between Bp and Prague.
