Benin Basic Traveling allowance

hello everyone, quick question. Are travelers traveling from Benin Republic obligated to pay a Basic Traveling Allowance? and if you can tell me more about that BTA.

I have driven between Nigeria and Benin and no such payment required but no idea if anything like this is required when flying out?

It's a scam used by people in West Africa trying to get money out of gullible westerners.

NO! If you have a visa you can enter Benin via any border without any additional charges. If you have no visa you will encounter trouble at the airport but at any major road crossing you can buy a 48 hour transit visa which you will need to extend at the immigration offices in Cotonou.
