I would like to drive my car from cairo to petra through taba. I would like to drive my car all the way to petra and back to cairo. I would like to know whether it is possible to take my car from taba to aqaba by ferry / barge and then drive to petra and back to cairo through the same route. my car has a egyptian number plate.
is it possible? please help |

to go by car from Suez to Petra, you will need to take the AB Maritime (http://www.abmaritime.com.jo/main.html) car ferry from Nuweiba (NOT Taba) to Aqaba. From Aqaba, Petra is about a hour's drive, perhaps a little more, particularly since there seems to be speed traps every 10 km along that road.
The ferry is unfortunately dirty, expensive and never, ever leaves on time, or even within 3 or 4 hours of its scheduled departure time.
