Go to the Delta region, around Stockton and Discovery Bay. There must be a lot of boat owners who are having trouble with their home mortgage, as this region is a national leader in foreclosures as the moment. More often the delta boats are power cruisers, rather than sailboats, but the browse the boat docks in this area and see what's for sale.

Oakland around Jack London Square has a lot of dealers. I live in Stockton and there isn't much in the way of +25 ft sail boats in the delta region. The water way is just to narrow. Another location you might search for is Discovery Bay in northern California. Then I would check southern CA for Newport Beach and San Diego.

James and I both know that tacking in tbe narrow waterways of the San Joaquin and Sacramento rivers and sloughs aren't as popular as ski boating, but some people still do it. Check the Marinas at Antioch, Benicia, Vallejo, and Discovery Bay. But, frankly when you are considering a 25+ sailboat, there is no such thing as a bargain. Boats are expensive to buy and maintain...

Great suggestions above. I'd also get in touch with the Olympic Circle Sailing Club and full of amateur and pro sailors who are well-connected with people who are casually looking to *maybe* sell. There's a lot of little marinas with a lot of boats and just not that many buyers. You should be able to get a good deal.
