Lucerne Travel Forum

i am researching about what to do in lucerne for 3.5 days with teens ages 17 and 14. suggestions of good hotels/appartments are great. and if we should spend more time (or less)thanks

Greetings! I was in Lucerne last year. Although it is a beautiful city, I didn't find a lot to do there. You could take a day trip to the top of Pilatus (the nearest tall mountain peak). At the top is a restaurant. You could take a boat ride around the lake, or parasail, etc. There's good shopping and food, but really it's just a lovely, quiet city on the lake. I would spend a day and a half in Lucerne then head to Interlaken if you are going south, or Zurich if you are going north. Bern is nice if going west. You'll be bored if you spend 3.5 in Lucerne. It can be pricey too. Hope this helps. Johnny

thanks i have been thinking of skiping Lucerne and maybe picking another city in Switzerland (did i spell that wrong?)any suggestions and things to do

Switzerland is great and such a beautiful place, if it were me . . . I would do Interlaken. You can go to the top of the Alps in Interlaken, Jungfrau. Then you can visit one of the nice little towns like Gimmelwald. From Gimmelwald or any other village, you can rent a bike and ride back down to the bottom of the mountain. The scenery is unbelievable! It would be awesome for teenagers, especially this summer! Where are you headed after Switzerland, maybe I can help. Johnny

I would like to reply with some suggestions, but I really need to know when you intend to go (what season?), and what your teens enjoy back home.
Also, have you experienced lots of time around mountains already, or are you looking for something else?
