I was just in Barcelona with my grandson who will be 14 the end of this month. We stayed at the Oriental Reding which is a very central location. We arrived Friday directly from the US (and jet lagged) and left Sunday and did not get enough time to do all I would have wanted to do.
I bought on line 2 day tickets to the Bus Turistico and picked them up at the airport. That's one thing that we did - ride around on the bus. Just riding on the bus took about a day and a half. I had my daughter (the mom of the grandson) give him a camera, because on my last trip with a grandchild, the grandchild and I had a lot of fun competing to take pictures. Both of them got a lot of good pictures. I explained to him that I was particularly interested in the architecture of Gaudi. We did stop at Gaudi's church, but did not have time to go inside. I would have liked to visit the modern art museum with him and I thought it would have been neat to ride the aerial car from Mont Juic down to the harbor. My grandson is big into fishing and aquariums, so we went to the aquarium and he really liked that, but it would depend on what your teens are interested in. He also saw posters for a Bon Jovi concert which he would have liked to go to, and there might be sports events that they would want to go to. He had also heard about tapis bars from his Spanish teacher, but I was not successful in finding one to eat in. We also would have liked to spend more time on the Ramblas.

I recommend LESS time on Ramblas. It is mostly a tourist trap, though there are some interesting things to see there or near like the Boqueria market.
I agree about the Bus Turistic, but I would suggest just one day on that to get your bearings and see what you want to go back and see more in depth. If you give us an idea of what your teens' interests are, we can make some suggestions. Otherwise, there is plenty of general info on the Web concerning what to see. What do they like to do? What do THEY say they want to see and do?

Not much time on the Ramblas is OK - but we only saw it from the taxi as we were driving to the port. That's too little (IMHO)

You're right, GrandmaR. The Ramblas is interesting for a short time (I recommend a walk through it, at least), but I just wanted to make it clear that there is SO much more to Barcelona than that.

Hey again! Here are my plans so far of what to do each day. Tell me if I will have time to do all the activities I hope we can do each day.( but don’t want it too busy) Or if it is impractical to do certain activities on the same day (example: they are far away from each other, though I tried to not let that happen) Also any other activities we should do. So you can help us more: I am interested in outdoor stuff but still like pretty much anything else. (Sorry that didn’t explain anything) my brother likes things that are interactive. (Example: street fairs and hands on museums. not look at a painting place or look but don’t touch places) My dad loves history. And my mom likes anything to do with the Catholic Church (we have been to Italy) and she likes beaches. As always suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Day 17-Lisbon/Barcelona - Hotel: Hotel Alexandra • 7:55pm leave for Barcelona ($463.20 TAP Portugal) • 10:40pm arrive in Barcelona Day 18- Barcelona - Hotel: Hotel Alexandra • Montjuic • Pueblo Espanol and Craft workshop • Gothic Quarter Day 19- Barcelona - Hotel: Hotel Alexandra • Visit the Catalan Countryside wine region outside Barcelona Day 20- Barcelona - Hotel: Hotel Alexandra Day 21- Barcelona/Marseille – Hotel:

I think if your mom is interested in the church, you should go to Gaudi's Temple de la Sagrada Familia. You have to pay to go in, but I think they do have various masses and in some places you can go to a service without paying - don't know if that is possible at the Sagrada Familia or not. There was a board with the hours of confession and the hours of mass posted and I took a picture of it, but I can't read it.
I think also visit the Casa Mila, La Pedrera which is Gaudi's last work before the Sagrada Familia. It is an apartment building with seaweed like balconies. It's touristy, but I would have liked to go on the Funicular de Montjuďc and there's also an Olympic musuem up there on Mont Juic.

if you arrive by plane, take the train fron the airport to Sants station, there take the metro line blue direction Horta. get down in DIAGONAL station, the hotel is 3 blocks. http://www.tmb.net/en_US/home.jsp
The hotel is near to Sagrada Familia, Pedrera, Les Punxes, casa Batlló, casa Atmetller, you can go to walk. Gothic Quarter it's Teh Best (but look your bag) In Barcelona (Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia) there are a lot of Countryside wine region,so I think isns't necessary visit. do You know MONTSERRAT? http://www.montserratvisita.com/ It is 50 km outside Barcelona, nexto El Penedes (wine region) You can go by car or train, if You go by car, you can rent in http://www.pepecar.com/es/index_new.html, it's the cheapest. If you go by train http://www.fgc.es/accesible/eng/ociturisme/montserrat.htm I f you need more information, you tell me
