| Milan | Any idea about day-trip from Milan to Rome or Alps? Posted: Tue May 20, 2008 08:59 PM UTC
Dear All,
I will have one day free on 22 MAY, I'ld like to visit Rome or Alps from Milan by train or bus. Do you have any idea or suggestion about such a day-trip? Please tell me in detail. Cheers, Pillar |

Milan is too far from Rome, the train trip alone would take you maybe 6 hours just to get there. Why not go to Lake Como for the day. It's about a half hour by train and has beautiful vistas.

Lake Como is a perfect choice for scenery, villas and estates as suggested by azz, although the train trip is more like an hour than 30 minutes. There are actually two train lines, get from either one to the lakefront and take a ferry or hydrofoil up to Bellagio or Varenna or perhaps to Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo (for the latter, check out the page of Aurorae). We loved Como.
For a city, although we have not been there, Bergamo is very highly recommended on this site and also easily accessible by train.
