Where would be the best place to stay around in Perth itself with kids?Is it easy to find parking? Or would I be better off staying in the suburbs?

Depends on you budget.....the bigger hotels in the city have parking available.

The Intercontinental at Burswood resort is 5 minutes from the city and has great facilities.

Also if you are coming in warmer weather, being close to the beach would be great for kids.

There's not really anywhere much to stay in the suburbs as far as I know.
Cotteslow is out of the town, (I suppose you could call it a suburb) but still close to the city. It's very popular, right on the beach and is a good place for wandering around.
You could also choose Fremantle(a city in itself) which also has beaches as well as a touristy town centre. There are many holiday apartments as well as hotels and bed and breakfast places here.

No, it's not easy to find parking in any of the attractive places, but most accomodations provide parking space.
Both Perth and Fremantle have a free bus service around the city centre.

Hi, Because of the Mining Boom in Western Australia the price of hotel accommodation has risen, also there is a shortage of rooms. Therefore it is best to book early. I would recommend the apartment/ studio type accommodation at the eastern end of the city in Hay Street, Adelaide Street, or Bennett or Royal Streets near where they cross Hay and Adelaide Streets. You can get the free city bus into the city or walk which would take 10 to 15 minutes.

You could consider South Perth with the 10 minute ferry trip to the city. Alternative is the Port City of Fremantle, a nice historic part of Perth only 18km from the Perth City Centre and a very good train service will get you there in 20 minutes.

Good Luck,
Mike

If you want to stay in Perth city, then Novotel and Sheraton both have self parking (Novotel is free, but fills up fast, and Sheraton is about $15/day I think). All the big name hotels have Valet parking, otherwise if you head to Fremantle and stay at the Esplanade or Quest Apartments you can find street parking. Since you are coming with kids, I would recommend that you stay in Fremantle, as there are heaps of restaurants with-in walking distance, the beach is fairly close and the ferry for Rottnest leaves from Freo.
Have a great time.
