| Toronto | Advice on places to stay with my daughter Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 10:38 PM UTC
Hi Folks,
I'm hoping someone will be able to help. I'm coming to Toronto with my 6 year old daughter for our summer holidays from Scotland. We are both very excited whoop whoop. I have booked flights but have yet to find accom. We will be staying in July for 15 nights. can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel, apartment, b&b and in a safe area? I was looking at Day hotel and looked not too bad? Thanks H |

Hi Sparky.
A little more info on your hotel choice please. By Day hotel do you mean Day's Inn? As you are traveling with one so young I would say you probably want a hotel with all the family attractions. Also you will want to be close to the subway if you do not drive. If I May I would like to suggest that after you do the obvious young person things in Toronto and do a Day trip to Niagara Falls, you might want to visit the Science and technology museum in Ottawa. I'm sure you've done your homework but give us a bit more info and we can help I think.

Holiday Inn (there are three in central Toronto)
Comfort Inn Downtown Courtyard Marriott The Residence Inn Nathan Phillips Square is central in downtown Toronto and therefore useful as a reference when Googling the maps re. hotel locations. Places to go - Toronto Zoo, Ontario Place, Canada's Wonderland, Toronto Islands (via a ferry), Harbourfront. Also, African Lion Safari in Cambridge (about 1-1/2 hr west).

Thanks's very much for the info so far, Yes I did mean the Days Inn, I did think on self catering but a family friendly hotel would be better, one with swimming pool and I like to kep fit so even a gym would be good too.
I saw the safari mentioned on a website and looks like a must. Anymore advice would be much appreciated.

check www.priceline.ca for hotels in the toronto area, keeping your google map open and as mentioned, use Nathan Phillips Square as your centre point (or Yonge/Dundas) .... you don't want to be too far out of downtown, but if you are willing to travel by transit 1/2 hour, you will find cheaper accommodation (like Best Western on Kingston Road)

Howard Johnson's Hotels are quite family oriented. Usually pools, some play space, breakfast included and reasonable prices. Oh, yes, and coin-operated laundry -- a great asset when travelling with kids. BTW...just stayed at a Days INN in Newark, and they are changing the name to Days Hotel. I would strongly recommend the Science Museum as well!
