Hi! I am planning on hiking all the way down into the Grand Canyon end of September and camp in the Bright Angel Campground (next to Phantom Ranch). I still don't know if I should camp down there for one night or two nights, I don't know if there is much to do there and may be one night is just enough. Does anybody that has camped there can advise? Thanks a lot!

Several years ago I tried camping down there. All I can say is be sure to carry an insectproof tent. It's a lovely spot, but the horseflies were so horrible that I gave up around 10 PM and hiked back out by the light of the moon. I wouldn't say there's a lot to "do", but you can hike partway towards the north rim - if you're interested in geology you can see the famous unconformity, and the creek runs beside the trail much of the time.

Do you already have a backcountry permit?
If not, get applying, but it's almost certainly too late. Lots of trouble if you try to camp in the canyon without one.
