Cheapest way from JB to Sing is the take a bus crossing the boarding. I remembered the price is SGD0.50 dunno if they have increased or not.

Shopping and hotels are definitely cheaper in JB as compare to Spore because of the exchange rate. In fact Sporean come in droves to JB for thier shopping.

Bus should be the bets way tBear in mind that as December is school holidays season here, the short trip between JB and Spore can take hours.

And it's fun too.
So easy that it's worth going to change the pace from Singapore sometimes. Too simple not to go.

Don't bother with JB, hotels were dead cheap when we were in Singapore. We paid 180 US$ to stay at the Manderine on Orchard Road for a huge room for 3 nights with breakfast!

If your intention is to explore Singapore, I suggest you stay in Singapore because although the hotels in Johor Bahru are cheaper, there are frequent long traffic jams at the causeway linking Johor Bahru to Singapore, especially during the December holiday season.

If you want to avoid the traffic jams, then you have to travel during the odd hours e.g. very early in the morning, later part of the evening. There is a public bus no. 170 in Singapore which goes into Johor Bahru and it is the cheapest way. You can take the bus in the city area, or at the bus-stop below the Yew Tee MRT station located along Woodlands Road leading to the causeway.

Hi Hilly

I don't recommend you to stay in JB if your purpose is to explore Singapore. It is not convenient to travel in between the two countries though it may appear to be very near on the Map. The traffic between JB and Singapore is horrible.

Instead, I would recommend you to spend a few days in Singapore then spend one or two days in JB. Please be extremely careful when you are in JB. There are many pick pocket there.

Cheers ...venus

for sure it is cheaper. 4 ways to travel fr sing to jb & vice versa. take s'pore-JB express bus, at Bugis, s'pore (S$2.40) bus no. 170 & causeway link (malaysia bus) S$0.80 opp Kranji MRT station & KTM train ($2.90). to avoid heavy jam... take the train, limitation is hv to follow timetable.

actually s'pore do hv hotels & shopping that are cheap too...
