| Kuala Lumpur | fine dining in KL Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 04:27 PM UTC
Hello,
Early July we will be in KL for our honeymoon and as we both love great food, we are looking for some fine dining in KL. I have read about 3rd Floor Restaurant (JW Marriott), but can't find any reviews about the quality and costs (2 pax). Can you please advise us? Other restaurant suggestions are more than welcome :-) Kind Regards, Otjesjr |

I stayed at the Hilton KL and they have several excellent restaurants, we liked the Chynna & Sudu. From our UK point of view prices were extremely reasonable (£30 bought us a three course dinner & a couple of drinks!)and the food was absolutely superb.
Have a great honeymoon.

If you like Asian cuisine in general, and Thai in particular, check out Restaurant Tamarind Hill. Great food in an elegant environment in a secluded location. It was my favorite place for Asian fine dining in KL back in 2006, hope it hasn't changed ever since. A little out of KL's city center, but taxis will get you there.
Enjoy! Giuseppe

OK, I hope the following is useful:
(1) Indian => Bombay Palace, along Jalan Ampang (near American Embassy) (2) International => Alexis Bistro, in AIA Building, along Jalan Ampang (very nice wood-fired pizzas, also excellent seafood & pasta dishes. (3) Chinese => Hai Tien Lo, at Pan Pacific Hotel, (next to Putra World Trade Centre) Do you need any more places ? Cheers.

You have never seen a place so bursting with food and restaurants of all kinds at all levels as KL...and never such a food-loving population. Just follow your nose and eyes and crowds, just spoilt for choice. I would definitely get away from the 5-star hotel syndrome in KL, even though they do have very good restaurants, but you can have that experience in any part of the world.
For tips on restaurants and places to eat and what to eat, check out Malaysian food blogs like http://masak-masak.blogspot.com/ and all the other links shown there. The author lists and photographs all sorts of foods and places to eat, both cheap and high-end. Happy eating!

Do you have preference on the type of cuisine?
There are plenty of fine dining around KL - but if you could elaborate more on your preference on cuisine and the kind of atmosphere you are looking for that would be great.

We suggest you
1) Haji Samuri Satay Kajang (truly Malaysian beef barbeque). Location is in Kajang (Most of Malaysian knows it). 2) Restoran Cheng Hoe (Chinese Food) , Location Wangsa Maju behind Carrefour. 3) Bombay Palace (Indian Food) located in Jalan Tun Razak in front of US Embassy. 4) Go and Dine at KL Tower rotated Restaurant. Dine and enjoy viewing. 5) Go to Bangsar, Jalan Telawi - you may find a range of cuisines places start from food stalls up to the exclusive restaurant.
