| Cairo | Accomodation in Cairo Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 05:09 PM UTC
I am having a plan to visit Cairo maybe next February. I have been searching for accomodation and I dont find all those 4-5 star hotels very interesting at all.
I would like to stay in area which is in the middle of Egyptian life, not packed with hotels, tourist shops and restaurants. I found a list of hostels and other accomodations. Does anyone know any hotel / hostel from the attachment and maybe could recommend me one of them? Or if someone knows a good local hotel ( clean and good service ), please let me know. I have an idea that staying at one of these places could give me bit more personal touch on Egypt than huge hotels. Here is the list of hostels I found. Please give comments if someone knows / has stayed at one of them!!! Please! Heres the attachment; http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php?ChosenCity |

I stayed at Hotel Luna just 2 weeks ago. Its a really good location if you want to be in the middle of downtown Cairo. We paid 150 Egyptian pounds a night for the back rooms (Luna Oasis?). I was glad that we picked the back rooms because we went to sleep around midnight...and all the locals were still in full swing. The rooms were really quiet, had A/C and was cleaned everyday. A couple of problems with this hotel is that they don't have a shower curtain in the bathroom so the bathroom gets pretty wet. Also they push their tours pretty heavily. Overpriced ...and you can get things done cheaper by yourself.

If you want to stay in downtown I'd recommend Windsor hotel. A group of friends stayed there during last March and they were generally content with the place. You can see some reviews on this link http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g294201-d3
Have a nice trip Essam

Dear nadlap,
my name is Heidi and I am Austrian. In August our family (my Egyptian husband, our 2 children and our dog) will settle to Cairo. Unfortunaltely I can't offer you an accomodation, but as from Ocotber 2008 I want to offer tours through the original parts of Cairo ending with a real delicious and original Egyptian dinner at my sister in law. So you could experience the real taste of Egypt and feel the incomparable hospitality of this kind people. These tours are for max. 3 persons If you are interested: Here is my email adress: heidi_agaiby@yahoo.de Kind regards Heidi
